SAIL & SNORKEL TRIP ON THE ARUSUN
This 65 ft catamaran from Aruba Watersports Center is your ticket to the best snorkel sites on the island. We will sail towards The Antilla shipwreck and the Boca Catalina Bay or Malmok reef. These reefs are perfect for those who have never snorkeled before; shallow calm water and plenty to see. The Antilla is one of the largest WWII ship wreck of the Caribbean. This 400 ft freighter was scuttled May 1st, 1940 and is laying on her port side in approximately 60 ft deep water, but the top of the boat just barely misses the surface! We provide you with snorkel equipment, lifejacket and instruction. On board we will serve you with alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, light snacks and off course music. All the right ingredients to guarantee you an AWESOME time on board!!

HISTORY OF THE ARUSUN
We are proud to share the history of our beautiful catamaran. This Formula II Ocean Racing Catamaran was built by design of Rod McAlpine-Downie in 1984-1985. The boat is 60 feet long and is specially build to withstand heavy weather conditions. Named as “British Airways” and owned by the well known master sailor from Great Britain, Sir Robin Knox-Johnston, she started her racing career and proved to be a fast ship: 4th in the Two Star Race, 3rd in the Round Britain Race, 1st in her class Monaco-New York, 1st in her class World Championship 1986. She crossed the Atlantic Ocean from West to East in just 10,5 days: a World record back then.
Then she was sold to Dutch sailor Henk de Velde. He named her after his sponsors “Alisun J&B”. He had bought her to sail the world. Single handed and non-stop, in a record breaking 150 days. That was the plan, but after some serious damage he managed to sail around the world in 158 days instead. During the trip, he wrote a book about his journey: “Een sfeer van onrust” [An atmosphere of restlessness], unfortunately out of print now.
